A Dickens’ Christmas Carol:
A Traveling Travesty in Two Tumultuous Acts by Mark Landon Smith Performance Dates: 11/02/2012-11/18/2012 |
Summary
The internationally known Styckes Upon Thump Repertory Company was touring the world with its fifteenth annual farewell tour this summer. They were about to finish their run in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, when an untoward accident decommissioned their bus driver. Undeterred, company member Teddy Shub assured his fellow thespians that he could drive the bus to their next venue, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Somewhere in the vast plains of central Canada, in the midst of a freak summer snowstorm, Teddy lost his way, and the bus ended up stalled here in Tigard, Oregon. With no money for repairs, the company sought vainly for bookings in local theaters. Sadly, no one seized this marvelous opportunity until local theatre entrepreneur Gary Romans, of Mask and Mirror Community Theatre said, “Right Ho! Let’s put on a show!” And thus shall theater legend be made as this illustrious company, The Styckes Upon Thump Repertory Company finally arrives in Tigard. When the company's diva feigns illness to gain attention, roles are re-assigned and the sweet understudy finds herself on stage knowing only one line of dialogue. Midway through the doomed performance, the diva rushes in to reclaim her role, and total mayhem ensues!
