Executive Board

The Executive Board is elected by the membership of Mask & Mirror each spring, and consists of six officers and three members at large. These people oversee a slate of committees organized to conduct the activities of the organization.

Information about the Executive Board members:

President John Knowles I have been on the Executive Board of Mask and Mirror for a year and have enjoyed serving. I have been in three M&M productions as an actor, built the set for another, and otherwise volunteered my services when needed. I am also a lawyer, arbitrator and mediator, as well as a part time Circuit Court Judge, and will bring the skills I have learned in those professions to the role of President. 6/21/2025, completing 1 year term

Vice President Jodi Johnson  has been active with Mask & Mirror since 2017 and has also served as Corresponding Secretary and Member at Large. She has been a costumer and stage manager for many of our shows, as well as handling props. She has also been in three of our shows as an actress. 6/21/2025, 2 year term

Secretary John Bartholomew  While very active as both an actor and a magician prior to college, John returned to the stage after a long hiatus, performing in ten Mask & Mirror productions starting with the second season as well as several other shows in the greater Portland area. He has served on the Mask & Mirror Board (Member at Large 2014-2017), Board of Trustees (2016-2018), President (2018-2020) and manages the theatre's web site and grants. John has been a Tigard/Tualatin resident for over 30 years, and works as a software engineer. 6/22/2024, 2 year term

Treasurer Amelia Michaels is an actor, dancer, and educator, and an accountant by day. She has been involved with Mask and Mirror since 2017 as an actor, stage manager, and yoga instructor. 6/21/25, 2 year term

Member-at-Large Kathleen Bean Jones has been an actor, director and theater teacher for over 25 years. She is currently the drama teacher and program director at Holy Trinity Catholic School, a teaching artist for Northwest Children's Theater and the education chair for PATA (Portland Area Theater Alliance.)  She directed Pride & Prejudice for Mask & Mirror this year. Recent roles include Aunt Josephine in Anne of Green Gables at HART Regional Theatre, Sawyer in Miracle on 34th Street New Century Players, Vera inThe Odd Couple - Female Version at Mask & Mirror, and Mrs. Jennings in Sense & Sensibility at George Fox University. She is writing a one-act play about her experience as a disabled veteran, titled Not Just Men, which she hopes to debut at the Fertile Ground Festival for new playwrights. Kathleen is thrilled to serve the Mask & Mirror community as a member-at-large. 6/21/25, 2 year term

Member-at-Large Sophie Duntley
has just recently become involved in Portland-area theatre and truly adores this community! Having spent several years in Chicago acting and directing in smaller scale productions, she then pursued her Masters in theatre directing in Bath, England, and returned home to Portland following completion of her degree to be close to family.
6/21/25 2 year term

Member-at-Large Bonnie Scott
has enjoyed getting involved with the theater community here since moving to the Portland area 5 years ago. She loves dancing as a performer, instructor and choreographer and has been branching out into acting, storytelling, and improv along the way. After doing a few plays in the Bay Area, her first acting gig in Portland was with Mask and Mirror in Inherit the Wind. Since then, she continues to explore ways to contribute to this lively community and expand her skills in a variety of ways. 6/21/25 2 year term

Member-at-Large Mark Putnam
As one of the newest members of the Mask & Mirror Board, I am honored to be a part of this community.  I have performed in several productions at Mask & Mirror, have helped out with set building and set design as well as directing the first production of the 15th Season. I look forward to bringing my skills and attributes for the continued success of the theater. 6/21/25 2 year term

Immediate Past President Rick Hoover is originally from Tustin, California. Rick  majored in theatre in high school and college, and started his career as a dancer in the Christmas parades at Disneyland. He worked as an extra in Hollywood on Guilty or Innocent, The Sam Shepard Murder Case, All In The Family, and General Hospital. Over his career, Rick has been involved in over 50 productions as either an actor, director or technical.

Rick first got involved with Mask & Mirror when he saw a call for one of our public play readings. This led to auditioning (not cast) and then directing his first show with M&M. He has since directed two other shows for M&M and also directed (and edited) two of our recent radio shows: War of the Worlds and Help Desk, and edited A Christmas Carol, Motherhood Out Loud and Crossing the Barre - entertainment that Mask & Mirror has provided during the pandemic. Rick is also a member of the Executive Board and is the Technical Director as well as a former Back Lot manager, occasional producer, frequent stage
builder and always there at strike. 6/21/2025
